SPE Announces New Forums to Be Held in Conjunction with ANTEC® 2017
February 14, 2017
BETHEL, CT, U.S.A., February 14, 2017: SPE (Society of Plastics Engineers) announced today that two new forums, Plasticity California and Industry 4.0 will be held in conjunction with ANTEC® 2017.
SPE’s Annual Technical Conference, ANTEC 2017, will take place May 8-10 at the Hilton Anaheim in Anaheim, CA, U.S.A.
“ANTEC 2017 will be the U.S. plastics industry’s largest technology event this year.” said Wim De Vos, CEO of SPE. “SPE is adding the additional forums to increase the added value for its attendees and the industry. On top of the 500+ technology sessions, Industry 4.0 will attract all those involved in the future control and connectivity of our industry’s supply chain, whilst the Plasticity California Forum will bring together everyone concerned about the ecological impact of manufacturing, recycling and re-using plastic products. With this, SPE’s ANTEC is headed to become a multi-disciplinary event which should not be missed by any stakeholder within our Industry.”
Tuesday, May 9, 2017 – Plasticity California, Big Conversation on the Future of Plastics
Come hear from global experts on how plastics can be a key driver within a circular economy, how we scale solutions to do so, and what the opportunities are for designers who are looking to make their mark in leadership with industry, and how companies can stay at the cutting-edge of plastic sustainability advances.
Wednesday, May 10, 2017 – Industry 4.0
Industry 4.0 is much more than a buzzword. It describes an industrial revolution taking place in manufacturing whereby interconnectivity between consumers and products, between man and machine, and among machines themselves is reshaping how products are designed, how supply chains communicate and function, and how factories operate. Big data, feedback loops and cloud-connected sensors already are impacting how the plastics industry works, and the speed of change will only accelerate as smart factories become the norm.
ANTEC 2017 will include “New Technology” forums, plenary & keynote speeches, tutorials for a range of processes and materials, and panel discussions.
Also new this year, a Women’s Networking Breakfast. This panel discussion will be led by women who have made it to the top of the plastics industry. The event will be held on Tuesday morning, May 9.
Other activities include SPE Awards and 75th Anniversary Gala, SPE’s global parts competition “Plastics for Life” and “The Plastics Race”, a scavenger hunt with a plastics twist. There will also be activities for students and young industry professionals.
“As SPE continues its race for relevance, we are proud to share the new additional programs at our annual event.” said Russ Broome, Managing Director of SPE. “We are focusing on new and improved content delivery and unique partnerships. The motivation behind this lies with providing the highest value possible for our attendees, speakers, exhibitors and sponsors. This is just the beginning as many other changes are in the planning for ANTEC 2018 @ NPE and ANTEC 2019 in Detroit.”
