Essay
Contest – Gail Bristol
Competition conducted with cooperation
of SPE Sections offers junior and senior
high school students a chance to win prize
money and recognition for the best essay
about plastics. Sections run local competitions
and pass along their winner to HQ for
final judging on the international level.
Winning student receives $1,000; his/her
school receives $1,000; essay is published
in Plastics
Engineering.
Husky
Education Award – Laurie McDougal
Provides $5,000 to an SPE Section to enable
them to advance the perception of plastics
at the local community level through plastics
activities/programs. Sponsored by Husky
Injection Molding Systems.
Chase
Student Chapter Education Award –
Laurie McDougal
Provides $2,500 to an SPE Student Chapter
to enable them to advance the perception
of plastics at the local community level
through plastics activities/programs.
Sponsored by Chase Plastic Services.
President’s

name is unknown until the actual presentation

of the Essay Contest, all these awards
are presented at ANTEC each year. The
presentation to the Essay Contest winner
is conducted by the local Section and,
if possible, a member of the SPE Executive
Committee or staff.
