The
James Toner Service Excellence Award was
established in 2004 to recognize a one-time
or sustained demonstration of extraordinary
customer service performance and/or behaviors
by an SPE staff member or volunteer, within
or on behalf of the Society. It is awarded
annually and named after long-time SPE
staff member Jim Toner, now retired. Sponsored
by SPE Past President Norman Fowler, the
award consists of a plaque and an honorarium
of $100.
This
year’s recipient of the James
Toner Service Excellence Award is
Tricia McKnight. Tricia is
recognized for her commitment, passion
and dedication to SPE’s volunteer
leaders. Through her efforts, the
Leadership Services Department has
been able to offer new services
to make the job of a volunteer a
little easier. She recently added
to her workload, picking up Divisions,
SIGs and Student Chapters in addition
to Sections. Even with all these
new organizations to support, Tricia’s
constant attention to the needs
of members has been impressive.
Tricia embraces
change, evaluating current procedures
to ensure they are the most efficient,
or developing new ones to better
serve members. She trains volunteers
on the resources available to them
– she developed the NewsBrief
service – redesigned the leadership
services webpage - and resolves
problems for volunteers in an efficient
and timely manner.
Based
on her tireless efforts to ensure
that the needs of SPE leaders are
met, for her innovative ideas on
new ways to meet member needs, and
her pleasant, willing attitude of
help and support to SPE leaders,
Tricia McKnight is presented with
the 2007 James Toner Service Excellence
Award.
