Post-Doctoral Research Associate Position Available
in Block Copolymer/Nanoparticle Nanocomposites
A post-doctoral position in the field of Block Copolymer/Nanoparticle Nanocomposites is available immediately in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Iowa State University. Ideal candidates should have experience in synthesis of well-defined polymer-grafted nanocrystals (e.g., QDs, magnetic nanoparticles, ferroelectric nanoparticles, etc.) using living polymerizations including ATRP and RAFT, self-assembly of nanocomposites (both in bulk and thin films) composed of block copolymers and nanoparticles, orientation and ordering of block copolymers, and a broad range of structural characterization skills. A Ph.D. in Materials Science, Polymer Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or related fields is required.

This hands-on position focuses on designing and fabricating innovative composite product designs and processes, as well as material selection and recommendation.The successful candidate will participate in the development, management, and successful completion of government and industry development programs involving composite materials technologies in such areas as shipbuilding, aerospace and space applications.
Requirements:
MS in Mechanical, Materials, or Aerospace Engineering.
10+ years of industry experience in the design and manufacture of composite structures.
Project management experience required; project team management preferred.
Finite element analysis expertise using ANSYS required; NASTRAN a plus.
Computational Fluid Dynamics experience, Composites material experience preferred.
Demonstrated ability to develop composite product designs, and verify those designs through prototype fabrication and testing.
Ability to handle multiple projects and follow through to completion.
Proficiency in CAD tools and MS Office applications.
