Postdoctoral Fellow/Manager Nanoimprint Lithography Laboratory
There is an immediate opening for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow and Manager, Nanoimprint Lithography Laboratory in the Polymer Science & Engineering department at the University of Massachusetts – Amherst. As a postdoctoral researcher, the candidate will study and develop new approaches for the nanoscale patterning of polymeric materials for novel device fabrication. The person will also serve as the manager of the UMass Nanoimprint Lithography (NIL) laboratory – a lab supported by the Center for Hierarchical Manufacturing, an NSF NSEC. The research will involve the
development of next generation lithography materials, devices and techniques including application of ultra thin films, patterning substrates, pattern transfer via plasma etching and liftoff as well as material deposition by thermal and e-beam evaporation. As a leadership role in the group, the candidate will help to mentor and train graduate and undergraduate students and help direct research pursuits in the areas of synthesis, nanopatterning
and device fabrication. The candidate will also serve as staff expert on
nanoimprint lithography with a consultation role and maintain active academic and industrial collaborations. Proposal writing, documentation of work through publications in top journals, and patent filings will be required.
The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in chemistry, materials science, engineering or related disciplines, with experience with polymeric materials, synthesis and processing. The candidate must also have a desire to engage in multi-disciplinary projects. The ideal candidate will already be in the US and hold a valid work VISA.
Interested candidates should provide a cover letter, complete CV, brief research statement, and the names of three references to:
