Post Docs at Virgina Tech

Postdoctoral level positions are available immediately in polymeric biomaterials in the research group of Theresa M. Reineke in the Department of Chemistry at Virginia Tech (www.reinekegroup.org). The desired candidates will have experience in the field of polymeric biomaterials and have a Ph.D. degree in a related research field. Candidates are being recruited to work on NIH and biotech industry-funded projects consisting of the synthesis and characterization of new glycopolymers and polycations for the cellular delivery of nucleic acids (i.e. pDNA, oligonucleotides, and siRNA). One project consists of the synthesis of new monomers and polymers, performing polymer-nucleic acid binding experiments to form nanoparticle complexes, and executing a variety of biological assays to screen the nanoparticles in cell culture for their delivery and toxicity profiles. In addition, candidates are being sought with a biomaterials background to work on a related project investigating the intracellular mechanisms of polynucleotide transport with this series of cationic glycopolymers. The desired candidates must have experience working in a team-oriented/collaborative environment and managing projects at the graduate and undergraduate levels. The candidate must also have experience in maintaining laboratory equipment. Please send CV to treineke@vt.edu
