Remote Monitoring for Lights Out or unattended processing
Submitted by John Zitkus on Mon, 02/09/2009 - 1:28pm
We are currently looking into setting up a micro PLC based Remote Monitoring for Lights Out or unattended processing. The objective is to use molding machine/dryer/loader/process cooling alarm outputs to PLC input, hardwire or wireless, then send error codes from PLC via network to site PC which would send SMS text, email, and/or phone dialer to handheld device (Blackberry).
Has anyone designed such a system? Is anyone aware of an "off-the shelf" solution? Thank You.

Monitor for lights out.
I am not sure if a SureShot by MoldFLow is capable of doing that. I do know you can send it to a pc to monitor it. Then allow the pc to send the message. There is a product called QMS but cannot remember the maker of the product. hope this at least sends you in the right direction.
Process Monitoring
RJG Inc has a solution for remote process monitoring. Look them up at www.rjginc.com.
You can also contact Mike Groleau or Art Schubert at (231) 947 3111 . Both are good sources. I know that they can do process monitoring over the Web, not sure if the system can send you texts or email.
The system is called eDART and can interface the molding machine parameters and in addition you can connect up to dryers, and other ancilliary equipment and mold temperatures.
