Endowed by the Tex-La-Gulf Section, one
of the Sections hardest hit by Hurricane
Rita, this scholarship program has been
established to provide significant financial
support to residents and their immediate
families impacted by any of the the three
2005 Gulf Coast hurricanes who wish to attend
a college, university or technical institute
in programs that support the plastics industry.
As the immediate need is different from
long-term requirements, in 2007, the following
criteria apply.
For the 2007-2008 school year, the award
will consist of one 4-year university of
college scholarship of $6,000 (funds distributed
on a yearly basis) and two 2-year junior
college or technical institute scholarship
of $2,000 (funds distributed on a yearly
basis).
Applicants must have been a resident of
a Gulf Coast County declared a national
disaster area by President Bush due to the
impact of Hurricane Katrina, Rita or Wilma
in 2005.
Applicants must attend a university, college
or technical institute in a Gulf Coast State
(Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana,
Texas).
Applicants must be enrolled in programs
that support the plastics industry.
- 4-year scholarship fields of study include
plastics engineering, plastics technology,
polymer science, chemistry, physics, chemical
engineering, mechanical engineering, industrial
engineering, packaging, etc.
- 2-year scholarship fields of study include
plastics technology, manufacturing support
(operations, maintenance, electrical,
quality control, environmental, laboratory
technicians), etc.
- Applicants must maintain a 2.0 GPA to
continue scholarship support.
- Applicants must enroll in at least 5
credit hours per semester or quarter.
