National Plastics Center PlastiVan™ Grants

The National Plastics Center (NPC) PlastiVan™ program, based in Leominster, MA, is an internationally acclaimed educational program geared for students in grades three through twelve. The NPC PlastiVans™ travel throughout the United States, teaching students, educators, and the public about the chemistry, history, processing and environmental issues involved with plastics.

Six different programs are available: Elementary Lab (grades 305), Middle School Lab (grades 6-8), High School Lab, Assembly Program, for middle and high school students as well as adult groups, Educator Workshop (for teachers) and Corporate Training Days (a day with the van at your facility). PlastiVan™ programs are usually sponsored by local companies for programs in their area. If you are interested in sponsoring a van visit and need more information about the PlastiVan™ program, contact the Outreach Office at +1 781-337-7127 or bcoleman@plasticsindustry.org

The SPE Thermoforming Division, through The SPE Foundation, provides funding support for the PlastiVan™ program by making grants of half the cost of a one-day visit when there is a sponsoring company. To be eligible for this funding, the company must be involved in the thermoforming industry (i.e., a thermoforming company, an extruder who provides sheet to a thermoforming company, etc.).

National Plastics Center Grant Proposal Process
A separate grant application must be completed and returned to The SPE Foundation after arrangements have been made for a PlastiVan™ visit.
