BETHEL, CT, U.S.A., Feb. 21, 2018: SPE (Society of Plastics Engineers) will present its annual awards for outstanding contributions to the plastics industry to three distinguished individuals during SPE ANTEC® 2018 @NPE2018.
ANTEC 2018 @NPE2018, the world’s largest plastics technical conference, will take place May 7–10 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, FL, U.S.A. The annual award recipients will be honored at Plastics Hall of Fame Gala on Sunday evening, May 6 from 6-9pm in the Linda Chapin Auditorium at the Orange County Convention Center.

The International Award is SPE’s most distinguished award and is presented to honor an individual’s lifetime achievement. Philip David Coates, professor at the University of Bradford, West Yorkshire, England and director of the Polymer Interdisciplinary Research Center(IRC), a network of four major universities and other research groups in the United Kingdom. The award is sponsored by the SPE’s Detroit Section and Automotive Divisions. Professor Coates will be the Plenary Speaker for Thursday, May 10. His presentation is titled Controlled Structuring of Polymers by Processing – Science, Technology and Applications.
Dr. Rajen M. Patel is a fellow in technical service and development for packaging and specialty plastics at Dow Chemical. Dr. Patel will be the Tuesday, May 8 Plenary Speaker. His presentation will be Role of Material Science and Application Development for a Successful Product Launch — Reflections on Metallocene Polyethylene Revolution.
John Beaumont, president of Beaumont Technologies Inc. and founder of the American Injection Molding(AIM) Institute. The award is sponsored by the SPE’s Detroit Section and SPE Automotive Division. Mr. Beaumont will be the Plenary Speaker on Wednesday, May 9. Advanced Industry Training & Education to Match Industry Needs is the title of his presentation.
