Rapid Fabrication of Continuous Fiber Thermoplastic Composite Aircraft Structures

Abstract

The presentation will introduce thermoplastic composite product forms for aircraft structures. Fabrication of continuous fiber thermoplastics requires an understanding of the forming mechanisms and management of the thermal processes particularly for semi-crystalline polymers. The application of these process technologies to rapid stamp forming and continuous molding fabrication methods will be discussed. Examples of production and development aerostructures will be included.
