A new Bylaw has been approved by the SPE Council which allows the use of a new Society Member Symbol on members’ business cards and an affiliation phrase on correspondence. Bylaw B-4b reads:

"The Society grants a limited license to members in good standing to display, on business cards only, a Society Member symbol, authorized artwork for which is available only from the Society. The Society Member symbol, separate and distinct from the Society emblem, identifies the individual as a member of the Society. On correspondence, the symbol may not be used, but members may indicate their affiliation with the Society by appending the phrase "(Member Grade) of SPE" after their name (SPE may also be spelled out in its entirety). No other use of the Society Member symbol or affiliation phrase is authorized. This license may be subject to such rules and regulations as the Council may adopt from time to time. Any alternate forms of the Society Member symbol approved by Council will be subject to the limited license described herein."

Artwork for the Society Member Symbol must be requested from SPE Headquarters, because each member’s grade must be verified to ensure that the correct artwork is sent. This artwork may be used only on business cards which include the member’s name. The Society emblem (logo) may not be substituted for the new Society Member Symbol.
