Packaging is Critical to Global Sustainability! Who Are We Kidding?

Much is being made about packaging sustainability, seemingly more even than for the products themselves. Packaging seems superfluous to the product in the consumer’s mind making it a larger and easier target than the product. Objective data suggests a complete elimination of packaging would contribute less than 5-10% of the required 50-80% global CO2 reduction. In this informative webinar, we will explore the line of reasoning on both sides including:
  • Economic data that suggests that addressing sustainability may have highly negative economic consequences when applied on economy-wide scale
  • Arguments that the magnitude of initiatives in packaging and other related energy and sustainability efforts are too small to make a difference
  • Are small efforts diverting us from focusing on the large scale changes really required?
  • Why strategies like package re-use may be real solutions if truly large reductions in packaging are required
