Blow Molding
Blow molding, also known as blow forming, is a manufacturing process by which hollow plastic parts are formed by expanding with compressed gases a soft perform (parison) in a mold. The are extrusion blow molding, injection blow molding, and stretch blow molding depending how the perform is formed and shaped. Wikipedia, Blow Molding, 7/23/2010
A sealed tube of molten material ( a "parison") is formed by extrusion or injection molding and placed between the mold halves. The mold is closed and fluid or gas under pressure is then introduced into the tube, forcing the molten tube against the cavity walls. The pressure is maintained until the molten material cools and solidifies. The pressure is then released, the mold halves are pulled apart, and the hardened article ejected. Method and apparatus for providing and exhausting compressed air at a plurality of points of use in a blow moulding device
Woods and Taylor of Great Britain have made blow molding containers more efficient by using exhaust values near the points of use to minimize the amount of compressed air exhausted during each cycle. (RDC 9/5/2011)
