Disposal
Disposal is the removal of a material from the human experience or a drastic change into completely new and different materials. In many respects this is the logical end for all materials. Although atoms are hardly ever transformed into other atoms except in stars or supernova events. Materials can be transformed into other substances and dispersed so in a sense, it starts all over. One could argue a typical useful materials goes through a life cycle of transformation from a reservoir into something useful. It is then used and, maybe, recycled into other useful forms. Eventually is is transformed and dispersed back into the earth's structure which serves as a reservoir until someone can transform it into another useful magterial. Disposal returns a plastic into some form into some type of permanent storage system. Materials never disappear, they only change into other dispersed forms. (RDC 6/8/2011)
