Aircraft fuselages are supported by a series of ring frames.  These frames typically are  machined metal structures or shaped sheet metal structures.  Reducing weight and number of parts continues to drive this technology.  Thus composite structure and resin transfer molding is an attreactive alternative to the metal structures.  (RDC 11/4/2010)
