Dispersion of graphene oxide and its flame retardancy effect on epoxy nanocomposites
(368-376) Chinese Journal of Polymer Science 29, #3 (2011)
Wang et al of Beijing University, China, and The University of Sydney, Australia, prepared graphene oxide by ultrasonication of completely oxidized graphite and used to improve the flame retardancy of epoxy. Cone calorimeter measurements showed that the time to ignition of the epoxy/graphene oxide nanocomposite was longer than that of neat epoxy. The heat release rate curve of the nanocomposite was broadened compared to that of neat epoxy and the peak heat release rate decreased as well. (RDC 5/16/2011)
