Impact resistance modifier and resin composition

Nagasaka et al of Mitsubishi Rayon, Japan has developed an impact modifier for transparent acrylics without impact whitening or affecting the inherent transparency of the material.  The modifier consists of a multilayered polymer having at least three layers, namely an innermost alkyl methacrylate layer, an intermediate alkyl acrylate layer and an outer-layerhaving its Tg within the range of 20 to 80  C.Its mass average particle diameter of the intermediate-layer polymer is 200 to 300 nm.  (RDC 2/18/2011)
