Formation of Nanoporous Fibers by the Self-Assembly of a Pyromellitic Diimide-Based Macrocycle
(9676–9679)Angewandte Chemie International Edition 49 #50 (2010)
Nakagaki et al used a pyromellitic diimide based macrocycle to selectively gelate N,N-dimethylaniline to form a nanofibril structure. Removal of N,N-dimethylaniline forms channel type empty cavities constructed from stacked molecules of the macrocycle in the nanofiber. By taking advantage of host ability of this structure, the nanofibers can serve as a chemosensor for π-donating compounds. (RDC 12/14/2010)
Preparation of ultrafine uniform electrospun polyimide nanofiber
(514–518) Polymer Journal 42 #6 (2010)
Abstract
Fukushima, Karube, and Kawakami of Tokyo Metropolitan Universityshow that increasing the electrical conductivity of polymer solutions by adding salts and decreasing the ambient humidity decreases the fiber diameter. Bead-free ultrafine uniform nanofibers with diameters of 33±5nm were formed. (RDC 11/6/2010)
