Effect of annealing on the crystallization and properties of electrospun polylatic acid and nylon 6 fibers
(752–758)Journal of Applied Polymer Science 120 #2 (2011)
Cho et al nanofibers of polylactic acid and nylon 6 were electrospun from hexafluoroisopropanol (HFIP) solutions. PLA as-spun fiber showed cold crystallization due to insufficient crystal growth in spinline. Thermal annealing effects of nylon 6 fibers including the degree of flow-induced crystallization are totally different from that of PLA fibers. The ultimate tensile strength and Young's modulus gradually increases with increasing annealing time for both PLA and nylon 6 mats, resulting from the further crystallization. (RDC 1/11/2011)
