Singh, Sharma and Sharma, India, functionalized psyllium with polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and poly(acrylamide) [poly(AAm)] for treating diverticulitis as well as an antibiotic treatment by the laxative action of psyllium and release of ciprofloxacin in acontrolled manner.. The release of the drug from the hydrogels occurred through Fickian diffusion mechanism in pH 2.2 and pH 7.4 buffer. (RDC 2/22/2011)
