Sheet
calendering,a finishing process by which paper, plastics, rubber, or textiles are pressed into sheets and smoothed, glazed, polished, or given a moiré or embossed surface. The material is passed through a series of rollers; the resulting surface depends on the pressure exerted by the rollers, on their temperature, composition, and surface designs, and on the type of coating or glaze previously applied to the material to be calendered.

Method for manufacturing polarizing film and polarizing film and optical film manufactured by using the method
Kameyama of Nitto Denko, Japan have developed a polarizing film that prevents display unevenness and can form a liquid crystal display and an electroluminescence display with excellent display characteristics. A hydrophilic polymer film is impregnated in an aqueous solvent in a swelling bath. The polymer film is dyed using a dichroic substance and stretched. (RDC 1/24/2011)
