In SituFormation of Silver Nanoparticles in Poly(N-Isopropyl Acrylamide) Hydrogel for Antibacterial Applications

Bajpai, Bajpai and Sharma of Govt Model Science Colleg, India, used the temperature-dependent swelling and shrinking behavior of poly(N-isopropyl acrylamide) in situ formation of silver nanoparticles within the hydrogel network.  The silver nanoparticles exhibited an average diameter of 20 nm. The silver nanoparticles/poly(N-isopropyl acrylamide) (AgNPs/PNIPAM) composite demonstrated fair antibacterial action against Escherichia coli.  (RDC 6/25/2011)
