Walter et al of the Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden, synthesized monodisperse high-molecular weight macrothiols and efficiently coupled to various allylic precursors via thiol–ene click chemistry.  A comprehensive dendritic library was obtained in good yields and short reaction times including conventional dendrimers as well as more sophisticated structures such as dendritic-linear hybrids or asymmetrical dendrimers.
