North American College Student Technical Writing Competition
The Polymer Modifiers and Additives Division (PMAD) of the Society of Plastics Engineers presents the 2012 PMAD CHALLENGE
The PMAD CHALLENGE is a technical writing competition designed to encourage student members to participate in SPE activities as well as to promote scientific and engineering knowledge relating to plastics. The Challenge involves the critical review of one of three selected Journal Articles and the development of a research proposal based upon the review of the selected paper. Submissions will be reviewed and judged by a team of University Professors and Plastics Industry Technical Professionals according to a customized rubric. Monetary prizes will be awarded to both undergraduate and graduate student winners of the competition who demonstrate excellence in technical writing and scientific creativity.
Awards:There will be four award levels for both graduate and undergraduate students: $2,000 for 1st Place, $1,000 for 2nd Place, $500 for 3rd Place and $200 each for five Honorable Mentions.
Awards Ceremony:1st Place Winners will be invited to attend the SPE’s annual ANTEC meeting in Orlando, FL on April 2-4, 2012. Reasonable travel expenses will be paid by the Division.
Eligibility:Any current graduate or undergraduate college student is eligible to enter the competition. All participants, whose submissions are accepted, will receive a free one-year student membership to SPE sponsored by PMAD.
Deadline:The complete write up must be received by email by midnight, February 15, 2012.
