This intensive four-day program includes classroom instruction and plant tours. Group lunches, receptions and a group dinner facilitate maximum interaction among the instructors and attendees.

Who Should Attend
Anyone considering or currently having products thermoformed. This symposium provides an excellent foundation for gaining a working understanding of all aspects of the thermoforming process.

Classroom Instruction

Thermoforming industry leaders teach different modules throughout this course. Under the leadership of these instructors, attendees review the basic concepts of thermoforming and expand their understanding of thermosets and thermoplastics.

Plant Tours - Tuesday, March 11
Gain insight through your expert-guided tours of:
-Skyline Career Development Center, a high school that offers a 3-year vocational  plastics program
-Spartech Plastics, a custom sheet extrusion plant
-Better Bath Components, a large cut-sheet custom thermoforming plant

Skyline Career Development Center Canceled
The Skyline Career Development Center of the Dallas Independent School District has an extremely well-equipped high school career development plastics shop. An in-depth three-year vocational plastics course is offered for students by experienced and qualified instructors. Four thermoforming machines, a lab sheet extruder and other equipment are available for demonstration and use. Various techniques and trimming operations will be shown. SPE attendees may operate equipment if desired. According to Bill McConnell, this is the most advanced and best equipped high school vocational plastics shop in the United States.

Spartech Plastics
Spartech Plastics is the custom thermoplastic sheet and rolled stock extrusion division of Spartech Corporation. The division’s 25 strategically located North American plants, which are capable of extruding nearly all available thermoplastic materials, make it one of the leading producers of rigid sheet and rolled stock in the world. Spartech's plant in Arlington, Texas, maintains four extrusion lines with tri-extrusion capabilities. These lines have the latest in computer technology, and three of them can extrude sheet up to 120” wide. Spartech's overall emphasis on quality and services has led them to their current market leadership position, and they look forward to welcoming you to tour their facility.

Kinro Composites (Better Bath Components)
Better Bath Components, the plastics thermoforming division of Kinro, Inc., manufactures thermoformed bathtubs, shower pans, surrounds and sinks, primarily for the manufactured housing, modular housing and RV industries. Kinro Composites is structured as Better Bath’s custom thermoforming division.
The plant in Waxahachie, Texas, maintains nine rotary thermoformers, one single-station thermoformer, and five Thermwood CNC trim machines. Additional processes include reinforced foam rigidizing.
Better Bath and its Kinro Composites division are advancing the development of large thermoformed parts. The addition of a new 3-station rotary machine built by AVT, Gladwin, MI, with mold capacity of 10 FT X 25 FT X 6 FT depth, will provide opportunities for development of large parts such as front and rear sections for RV’s; tops for RV’s; large dump-truck bed liners and boat hulls and decks. Better Bath won the People’s Choice Award at the 2003 Thermoforming Conference with its entry of an 18’ pleasure boat assembled by Four Winds.
Better Bath is certified ISO 9001 with emphasis on customer satisfaction and continuous improvement. Knowledge of their market needs, innovative product design, superb quality and ongoing customer support have led to Better Bath’s number-one position in its markets.
