Die Design Principles for
Extrusion of Polymers
2-day seminar
Purpose
& Overview
This seminar is structured to provide
designers with a fundamental understanding of the principles involved
in analyzing polymer flow as related to die design. Design procedures
for several types of dies and end products are explained and illustrated.
Each participant will be given demonstration software illustrating
computer-aided analysis techniques. Participants are urged to
bring notebook computers to the seminar in order to participate
in hands-on design problems.
Who
Should Attend?
Although the seminar is presented on an engineering level, experienced
die designers will also gain an insight to solving complex flow problems.
About the
Instructor: Leonard F. Sansone
Mr. Sansone has
over 30 years experience in designing dies for a wide variety of
end products. He taught a course on extrusion of plastics for New
York University for 11 years and has written analysis software for
die design for use by his consulting firm, Sussex Plastics Engineering,
Inc. His degrees include a B.S. in Metallurgical Engineering and
an M.S. in Chemical Engineering. He has been a senior member of
SPE since 1960. He is also a member of the Society of Rheology,
a staff consultant for the Polymer Processing Institute and is a
Registered Professional Mechanical Engineer in the State of New
Jersey.
