Larry Schmidt is President of LR Schmidt Associates, a plastics consulting firm specializing in advanced process designs and product concepts, technology assessment and root-cause analysis of viscoelastic processing problems. He received chemical engineering degrees from Ohio University, Washington University and the University of Colorado, where his Ph.D. research was on polymer processing. Prior to starting his company in 1992, he worked for General Electric for 22 years. Dr. Schmidt has published over 50 papers, given numerous presentations on polymer processing and holds several patents. Engineers, designers and technologists use his novel mold-filling visualization results. He is a Fellow of the Society of Plastics Engineers and serves on the Injection Molding Division Board of Directors.
