Additive Manufacturing – What Happens after the Print: The Virtual Edition

Additive Manufacturing (AM), a.k.a. 3D printing (3Dp), is highly touted for its versatility, but real-world functional parts almost always require significant amounts of post-print finishing operations. This is a dirty little secret of AM which is quickly realized when one starts to attempt to make parts with specified requirements, such as form-fit-function, surface aesthetics, sealing, etc. This event was hosted by the AM industry's experts in finishing and post-processing of 3D-printed parts to educate AM users, spec writers, designers, engineers, and afficionados in how best to handle what happens after the print. Learn the current state of AM finishing/post-processing activities, technology development including automation in this area, and future directions. Anyone currently working with AM technologies or considering doing so will benefit from learning about this crucial yet seldom discussed topic.
