Additive Manufacturing 101: The field of 3D printing has become increasingly crowded over the last several years and media hype has created a lot of confusion. Brian Slocum, Director of Lehigh University's Additive Manufacturing Lab will cover the seven different families that make up the current AM industry, talk in detail about the technologies, how they are being used in industry and the current state of development of new and emerging technologies and materials. The talk will be followed up by a tour of Lehigh's facilities so that attendees can see many of these technologies in use.
About the Speaker
BRIAN SLOCUM, MANAGING DIRECTOR, DESIGN LABS
Involved in many aspects of Lehigh University, Brian’s primary role revolves around the act of making. In addition to managing Lehigh’s premier Makerspace, the Wilbur Powerhouse, he also serves as Director of the Lehigh University Additive Manufacturing Lab, and the Design Labs, which include both wood and metal shops. While his passion is helping students physicalize their ideas and teaching them how to think with their hands in addition to their heads, Brian also teaches courses in design, metalworking, prototyping, and design build and serves as a faculty advisor for the Technical Entrepreneurship Capstone program.

Where to Park
The seminar and tour will be held at Lehigh University in the Wilbur Powerhouse (12 East Packer Ave., Bethlehem, PA 18015). It is recommended to park in the Zoellner Arts Center and walk down Packer Avenue. The Wilbur Powerhouse is behind the Wilbur Annex and the main door is in the back.
