Please join us the evening of December 10 as we restart the Society of Plastics Engineer’s Southern section for the 2018/2019 year with our inaugural meeting for the year. Our ‘Injection Molding Night’ meeting for December is kindly hosted by The Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech) with strong participation from the SPE Student Chapter there which we are proud and honored to have.
The theme of our December meeting is injection molding. An overarching goal of the Southern Section is to provide programs that educate, support, and in general benefit the plastics industry and plastics professionals in our region. With this goal in mind, our keynote speaker for the December program is Mr. John Knipp, the Southeast Regional Manager for RJG, a leading consulting firm in the field of injection molding.
John will be discussing some of the challenges of injection molding manufacturing operations today and how to overcome them. Topics to be addressed include: manufacturing and skills gap, the need for well-trained employees and retention of quality staff, and the addition of automation to injection molding operations. In addition to the dinner and seminar by Mr. Knipp, the Student Chapter will be hosting 15-minute tours of the Plastics Processing Laboratories ahead of the dinner and meeting. We therefore encourage everyone to try to arrive by 6 pm or slightly earlier to participate in these tours. A Section Board meeting will precede the event.
