BETHEL, CT—June 17, 2019: This year, the SPE Milwaukee Section is celebrating its 75th anniversary as a chapter in the Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE). Since 1944, SPE Milwaukee has focused on spreading knowledge, strengthening skills and promoting plastics throughout the state of Wisconsin.

“We are excited to celebrate the longevity and success of our chapter,” said Matt Bennett, president of SPE Milwaukee’s Board of Directors.  “In keeping with Wisconsin’s state motto, ‘FORWARD,’ it has been our goal over these 75 years to ensure that we in the plastics industry continue to look toward the future.”

SPE Milwaukee provides their members with networking opportunities and technical events. The chapter also works closely with the SPE Education Foundation and their mission to support the development of plastics professionals through educational programs, grants, and scholarships. Another chapter milestone occurred in 2018 when SPE Milwaukee won recognition across all five categories within SPE’s Pinnacle Awards, a national program honoring chapters that successfully create and deliver member value. SPE Milwaukee is the only chapter to achieve such a distinction.

“SPE is proud of the Milwaukee Chapter’s accomplishments,” said Patrick Farrey, CEO of SPE. “Their dedication to the Society as well as to the plastics industry, has been inspiring since they were established. Here’s to another 75 years!”

A 75th Anniversary celebration is planned at SPE Milwaukee’s upcoming annual golf outing, taking place July 15 at the River Club of Mequon in Mequon, WI. The outing will honor the chapter’s past presidents and will award special gifts to all golfers commemorating this occasion.

“We can’t think of a better way to do that than to honor all of our past presidents at our seminal social event of the year,” said Bennett. “We’re looking forward to seeing all of our members at this event.”
