SPE Announces Two Workshops at ANTEC®

DANBURY, CT—February 4, 2020: SPE is adding two workshops to its ANTEC® 2020 educational roster with each taking place on Sunday, March 29 from 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. at the Marriott Rivercenter in San Antonio.

Workshop One: “Corporate Entrepreneurship: An Introduction,” presented by Bonnie Bachman of the Missouri University of Science & Technology and Maggie Baumann of G.H. Associates, will address how corporate entrepreneurship has changed and how it is currently managed. This workshop will focus on entrepreneurship methodologies and their implementation while providing an experiential component. The material in this workshop is based on both the business model and value proposition canvases that have been successfully used by startups and corporate teams over the past recent years. The target audience for this workshop includes small, medium or large company employees charged with translating research projects to development, new product and service development, and business development. This workshop is taking place at the Marriott Rivercenter in conference room #21.

Workshop Two: “An Introduction to Non-Halogen Flame Retardants and How to Use Them in Thermoplastics,” presented by Roger Avakian of Avakian PolyChem Consulting LLC, will introduce participants to the basics of flame retardancy with a focus on non-halogen flame retardants. Various types of non-halogen flame retardant chemistries will also be discussed along with a brief overview on how film retardant additives are used in various thermoplastics to pass specific flammability tests. This workshop is designed for technologists who have recently entered the field of formulating non-halogen flame retardant compositions, those testing such compositions and personnel seeking applications for such flame-retardant materials. This workshop is taking place at the Marriott Rivercenter in conference room #16.

Both workshops are available in addition to regularly scheduled ANTEC® events. Workshops cost $300 for SPE members and $399 for non-members. Each workshop requires separate registration by going to www.4spe.org/ANTECWorkshops.
