Overview
Presentations on additive manufacturing and on SPE's DEI initiative, dinner, in-person networking
Summary
Injection Molding has long been the core of the Western NE Section and the rest of New England, and remains
vibrant today. Automation in the form of Robotics, End of Arm Tooling, Vision Systems and Material
Handling are keeping plants productive and cost-competitive with off-shore molding. Dan Spohr, Regional
Manager for Robotics wand his staff will show us how it's done.
Speakers
Brian Gibson, representative for SPE’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusivity (DEI) Advisory
Board will speak about SPE’s DEI initiative.
Brian is a long-time member of our SPE section. He has worked for Tri-Seal (a Tekni-Plex Company), Honeywell,
Sun Chemical Corp., and Occidental Chemical (OxyVinlys). Brian has a Masters of Business Administration,
Pharmaceutical and Chemical Studies, from Fairleigh Dickinson University and a BS Chemical Engineering, BA
Chemistry, from Lafayette College.
Dave Macfie from Cimquest will speak about Additive Manufacturing Trends.
3D printing has been around for more than 30 years, and its biggest applications have been concept models and
functional prototypes. However, over the last 5 years, the biggest growth has been in manufacturing tools and
end-use parts. That growth is expected to increase exponentially over the next decade, due to the immense
innovation that is occurring within materials and hardware in the additive space. Dave will highlight some of
the drivers behind this trend.
Dave Macfie is the Director of 3D Printer Sales for Cimquest (a reseller of CAM, 3D printers & 3D scanners).
He has a degree in mechanical engineering from NJIT and has been helping companies implement 3D Printing
(Additive Manufacturing) technologies for over two decades.
