Elastic recovery, excellent chemical and temperature resistance, and compliance with medical market standards make Santoprene™ thermoplastic vulcanizate (TPV) grades ideal candidates for medical device applications. Medical device parts made with Santoprene TPV are not only strong and flexible, but also exhibit excellent aesthetics, sealing capabilities and maintain a high level of performance over the life of the part while providing potential sustainability benefits such as reduced weight, more efficient manufacturing and recycling opportunities versus other polymeric materials. Santoprene TPVs are highly resistant to many cleaning agents and disinfectants and can withstand multiple sterilization cycles. In addition, ExxonMobil has launched innovative new Santoprene TPV grades that will bring unique performance attributes and enhance customer use experience.
Bhavesh Shah is currently working on the Product Development of Santoprene™ TPV at ExxonMobil Chemical Technology Center in Baytown, Texas. He joined ExxonMobil Chemical in 2018. Prior to joining ExxonMobil, he worked for more than 11 years at Kraton Polymers, Nestle Purina PetCare, and TAMKO Building Products in various technical and managerial roles.
Bhavesh received a Ph.D. in 2007 in the field of Polymer Composites from Michigan State University. He has a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Technology from North Maharashtra University and Master’s in Polymer Engineering and Technology from Institute of Chemical Technology, Mumbai, India.
