A 2020 View Of The Evolving Global Regulatory Environment

Abstract

This talk will cover various facets of governmental regulations that are being driven by emerging science and popular opinion. The current regulatory trends will be examined as well as their potential impacts with a view towards where regulations will likely head to in the future.

Understanding and anticipating these trends will help formulators and their companies from making decisions that will require expensive requalifications and product redesign. Regulations from across the world will be covered including but not limited to REACh, RoHS, PFOAs, Colorants, Medical Device Regulations, FDA guidance on Recycled materials in food applications, Nanomaterials, EU Regulation No 282/2008 on recycled plastic materials as well as others.

About the Speaker

Alicia Bergeron is currently the Director, Global Sustainability and Regulatory for plastics distributor Executive Polymer, LLC focusing on assisting in polymer selection on projects with complex regulatory requirements and/or sustainability goals. She specializes in FDA and EU regulatory compliance, primarialy for the Medical Device and Food Packaging markets. She joined the Executive Polymer team after spending more than 7 years managing the Regulatory department at Foster Corporation where she aided customers in regulatory compliance for the medical device market. In her time at Foster she conducted numerous customer education events focusing on polymers and additives for medical device applications to aid formulaters in regulatory compliance and assist in increasing speed to market for medical devices.
