SPE Announces HSM Award Recipients for 2024


Celebrating SPE's 2024 Honored Service Member Award Recipients

In January, SPE announced the 2024 recipients for its prestigious Honored Service Members Award. The SPE Honored Service Member program started in 1992 with 357 members named Honored Service Members since the program was launched.

To be elected an Honored Service Member, a candidate shall have demonstrated long-term, outstanding service to, and support of, SPE and its objectives, and shall be sponsored, in writing, by the Board of Directors of at least one Section, Division or Interest Group.

The following professionals received the SPE Honored Service Member Award for 2024:

JEFFREY S. DRUSDA
TECHNICAL SERVICE PRINCIPAL SCIENTIST
THE CHEMOURS COMPANY
Nominated by the SPE Color & Appearance Division

About the Recipient
Jeffrey began working for Chemours in 2018 after 20 years of service in the effect pigments industry.  In his current role, he represents the Titanium Technologies business unit as a Technical Service Principal Scientist.  With a focus on the Americas, Jeffrey provides support and solutions for plastics applications requiring titanium dioxide aesthetics and function. Jeffrey earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biochemistry at East Stroudsburg University.  He served on the Color and Appearance Division (CAD) Board of Directors since 2009 and chaired the 2020 SPE CAD RETEC® event (Virtual).  Completing a rotation through the CAD executive committee in 2016, Jeffrey serves as the CAD Conference Committee Chair and on the Communication and Technical Content Review Committees.  He also supports the SPE Vinyl and Building & Infrastructure Divisions.


PIERRE R. MOULINIÉ
GLOBAL TECHNICAL MARKETING HEAD, HEALTHCARE FOR ENGINEERING PLASTICS

Nominated by the SPE Medical Plastics Division

About the Recipient
Pierre has been in various technical roles at Covestro for 25 years (previously part of Bayer) and currently leads Global Technical Marketing for Healthcare in the Engineering Plastics area.  Since starting his career in plastics over 25 years ago, he has been a regular contributor to ANTEC papers, presentations, and other SPE events and has served various functions within the Society’s Engineering Properties and Structure as well as the Medical Plastics Divisions.  He is also a member of the Pittsburgh Section.  Pierre holds degrees in Chemistry from Concordia University and Carleton University in Canada.


DAVID A. OKONSKI
ENGINEERING MANAGER
IACMI-THE COMPOSITES INSTITUTE
Nominated by the SPE Detroit Section and Injection Molding Division

About the Recipient
David Okonski started his career in 1984 when he accepted a Manufacturing Engineer position at GM Research & Development; he was asked to become an expert in polymer processing and specialize in the injection molding process. David spent the next 39 years generating intellectual property on thermoplastic material systems, injection molding tooling strategies, and polymer manufacturing processes. David retired from GM on June 30th, 2023 but has since started the next chapter of his career as an Engineering Manager at the IACMI Scale-up Research Facility in Corktown, Detroit. David first joined SPE in 1992 and serves on the Board of Directors of both the Detroit Section and the Injection Molding Division.
