2023 Nominations for Board of Directors - Todd Bier

Summary

As someone who accidentally was thrown into Plastics and Polymers, I have now been in the Industry for 22 years. I have been an Account Manager at multiple processors selling many materials and have met a lot of companies and people along the way. I have been on the front line during tough times, shutdowns, and layoffs, but also seen how new product development and product launches have changed a company in our industry. Plastics have always been the elephant in the room to some people and in my career, I welcomed these conversations and told the truth about the greatness of Plastics in our world. If elected as a Board Member, I would be honored to continue to promote and defend our great industry as I can relate to the producer, the manufacturer, the seller, the molder, the President, and the buyer as I have dealt with them all over my 22 years. I joined SPE back in 2000 as a young professional trying to learn this Industry and I can still remember my first dinner for the Southern Section in Atlanta where the SPE attendees wore ties and thought how cool it was to be a part of it. Over the years the Southern Section has had many issues and dwindling attendance but a handful of us have tried to keep it going. I want to give back as I feel SPE is forgotten by the newer/younger professionals as our Industry is aging. I want to promote and be part of the next wave of young Plastic professionals and inspire them to get involved with Chapters and be excited like I was back in the day. Inspiring them to get excited about NPE and CAD/RETEC or whatever trade show. We are facing many uphill battles in the Industry and I would be honored to be on the front lines if elected.
