AREVO Composite Additive Manufacturing

Abstract

While metal Additive Manufacturing parts are starting to be deployed for end use applications, few plastic/composite AM parts and processes provide sufficient durability for this purpose. This presentation will introduce AREVO Composite Additive Manufacturing for on demand manufacturing of high performance, lightweight structures to replace metals. We will discuss three components of the technology, including end-to-end design-optimization software, thermoplastic composite material properties and laser based direct energy deposition (DED) process. We will conclude with case studies of two aerospace parts and benefits derived from this technology.
