SPE is proud to announce that its newest journal, SPE Polymers, launched in May 2020, has been accepted for inclusion in the Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI) within Clarivate’s Web of Science — a significant recognition of the journal’s quality, impact, and growing influence in the field of polymer science and engineering. SPE Polymers is a peer-reviewed open access journal dedicated to sound science in all aspects of polymer science, polymer engineering, and polymer technology.
This achievement is the direct result of the leadership and dedication of Dr. Brian Grady, SPE Polymers’ Founding Editor; Dr. Guo-Hua Hu, Editor-in-Chief; and Dr. Sadhan Jana, Executive Editor of SPE Journals, whose collective efforts have elevated the journal’s editorial excellence and global reputation.
Inclusion in ESCI means SPE Polymers has passed Clarivate’s initial editorial evaluation and is currently indexed in Web of Science, a step that enhances visibility, credibility, and discoverability for authors and readers alike.
"This acceptance reflects the high quality of the research we publish, the strength of our editorial oversight, and the growing impact SPE Polymers is having across academia and industry,” said Dr. Guo-Hua Hu. "It’s an important milestone for our contributors and for the broader SPE community."
“Not only is this important for polymer science as a whole, but it also represents the impact SPE and its journals are making within the scientific community,” said Dr. Grady. “I am proud to have been a part of SPE Polymers since its inception.”
Expanding the Reach of Practical Polymer Research
Indexed by the Web of Science means SPE Polymers content will be searchable and citable, connecting the journal’s applied research with a global audience of scientists, engineers, and innovators. ESCI indexing:
- Acknowledges the journal’s strong peer-review standards and publication ethics.
- Signals increasing influence through citation tracking and performance metrics.
- Expands access to authors seeking enhanced academic visibility and impact.
All articles published in SPE Polymers, from January 2023 onward, will be included in the Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI).
"At a time when innovation in polymers is driving solutions across industries—from packaging and medical devices to energy and infrastructure—access to credible, peer-reviewed research is more essential than ever," said Dr. Jana. "This recognition ensures that the work being published through SPE Polymers is not only respected, but highly visible and widely cited."
SPE Polymers continues to accept high-quality submissions from researchers around the world, with a commitment to fast, fair peer review and open-access dissemination. For more information about SPE Polymers, visit www.4spe.org/SPEPolymers.
