Dr. Mubashir Ansari
SPE Director
Technical Service & Development Scientist
Dow Consumer Solutions
Dr. Mubashir Anzari began his career in the oil refining industry, managing large-scale operations and leading teams through complex technical and organizational challenges. Motivated by a desire to advance materials science, he earned a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Virginia Tech, where he transitioned into plastics engineering with a focus on additive manufacturing and rheology—and where he first found a professional home within SPE. SPE became instrumental in his growth, providing mentorship, collaboration, and leadership opportunities that helped bridge his transition from academia to industry.
At Dow, he has since led high-impact projects in polymer blends, additives, composites, and sustainable materials, developing PFAS-alternative processing aids and commercializing award-winning products that have generated over $300 million in value and more than 600 million pounds of product volume. Recognized for technical expertise, strategic foresight, and collaborative leadership, he continues to bridge research and market needs, driving innovation that advances both performance and sustainability in plastics.
SPE has remained central to Mubahir’s professional journey and leadership philosophy. Elected to the SPE Board of Directors in 2024, he launched the Society’s Southern Europe Chapter and began organizing its first regional conference to expand global engagement. He has chaired technical sessions, mentored students and professionals worldwide, and championed initiatives that strengthen SPE’s role as a platform for innovation, inclusion, and collaboration.
In his current customer-facing role at Dow, he engages directly with industry partners to co-develop sustainable solutions, deepening his perspective on the challenges and opportunities shaping plastics today. As an SPE leader, he is committed to broadening the Society’s reach, modernizing its technical programming, fostering mentorship pipelines, and driving progress toward circularity—ensuring that SPE continues to unite and empower those shaping the future of the plastics industry.
