SPE Certificate in Leadership Program

Program Details

Essentials of Management & Leadership in Plastics prepares early to mid-level career professionals in the plastics industry for leadership roles. Participants who complete the program will receive a digital credential and will be fully prepared to: 

  1. Demonstrate a leader’s approach to volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous (VUCA) environments
  2. Participate in the strategic planning process for a business
  3. Display a leader's mindset when working with cross-functional teams
  4. Express a basic understanding of financial principles in business meetings
  5. Share digital credentials on your social media platforms such as LinkedIn.

PROGRAM DELIVERY
This six-month program is delivered in a virtual format. Learners engage in live facilitated group training, a one-to-one coaching session, and self-paced learning components each month.

Learners will: 

  • Engage the provided self-paced learning materials
  • Study recommended textbooks & resource
  • Access to online group training hosted through Zoom
  • Participate in One-to-One Coaching Sessions hosted through Zoom

The leadership topics in the six modules of this program include 

  • Strengths-based Leadership
  • Strategic Thinking & Planning
  • Organizational Culture
  • Innovation & Creativity
  • Basic Financial Literacy
  • Leader Awareness & Boundaries

MODULE COMPONENTS
In each module, learners may access the following:

  • Live Facilitated Group Training (60 minutes) / Followed by Peer “Study Hall” Work with Self-Study Components (60 Minutes)
  • One-to-One Coaching Session (30 minutes)
  • Self-Paced Learning Components / Training Materials (Varies)
  • Peer Share Session (60 minutes)

TIME COMMITMENT
Participants are expected to dedicate the time necessary to complete applicable readings and assignments. They are also expected to participate in the live virtual sessions for each module. By participating in the program, learners commit to 4 hours of synchronous interactions each month as well as 12-16 hours asynchronous work (ex: engaging self-paced learning components, training materials, or provided exercises). In total, learners invest 16-20 hours of their time per module for a total of 96-120 hours to complete the program.
